This study explores the anticraving efficacy of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on the right and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in patients with alcohol dependence. The research, involving twenty participants, found a significant reduction in craving scores in both groups with a large effect size. Intriguingly, no difference in anticraving efficacy was observed between right and left rTMS. The study sheds light on the potential of rTMS as a noninvasive tool for alcohol dependence and highlights the need for further exploration of optimal treatment parameters.
