Back pain + leg symptoms: when it may be more than “just back pain”

Pattern matters.

✔️ Pain shooting down one leg → may be sciatica / pinched nerve (radiculopathy)
✔️ Numbness/tingling in both feet (months/years) → may be neuropathy
✔️ Foot drop, new trouble walking, or leg giving out → urgent evaluation (same day)
✔️ Back pain + fever, or immunosuppression (disease or meds) → urgent evaluation (don’t wait)

🚩 Go to urgent care/ER now if you have:
• New bowel/bladder control problems
• New numbness in the groin/genital area (saddle numbness)
• Rapidly worsening weakness
